Evil truly revealed its face on Sunday and for FX that was a pretty sight. The Season 1 finale of vampiric drama The Strain pulled in 2.091 million total viewers on October 5 at 10 PM. Not only is that a rise of 6% from The Strain’s September 28 episode but also it clocked the series based on Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan’s novels in as the top drama on cable on Sunday night. In terms of the adults 18-49 demo, the S1 finale was also up a bit to a 1.0 from the previous week’s 0.9 rating.
FX say they are only in the Live + 3 ratings results game now so it’ll be a couple of days before we hear from the broadcaster themselves but they can’t be unhappy with those Live + Same Day numbers. Not only did The Strain best the 1.51 million that the S1 finale of Tyrant pulled in for FX on August 26 but the del Toro, Hogan andCarlton Cuse EPed show has consistently performed well in DVRland, pulling in more than 4 million viewers in recent Live + 7 results. Both Tyrant and The Strainhave been renewed by FX for second seasons – though del Torro says his show isn’t meant to last more than 5 seasons.
